Deactivating "Acquisition" Values after posting?

Problem:

Is there a way of getting around the error AA616 "Acquisition value is positive is area xxx" when "deactivating" the Acquisition line for a depreciation area?

Cause

We are

- migrating values from the Acquisition line of a depreciation area to the Revaluation line by reducing the acquisition line to 0 (in the current year) and increasing the revaluation line respectively (through two asset transactions, an acquisition and a revaluation).

- Setting the Acquisition value configuration to "0 - No Values Allowed"

But this causes the error AA616 to be displayed in the asset view (SAP transaction AW01n).
